Packing the days…
Packing the days…
In November I left Milan with a rail pass and no fixed plan past the next city: a slow loop through nine countries, three weeks of overnight trains and short hops, before turning north for a week inside the Arctic Circle and then south again to Istanbul. It ended, like the year did, on a flight home to India to meet family. Here it is, one day at a time.
A backpack pried open on a Milan bus, a pizza to steady the nerves, then a race through dark streets for a printout before the last train out.
Salzburg woke up under snow, and by afternoon I was on a ferry to a village so photographed it got rebuilt in China, gold and empty in November.
A last morning in Salzburg swung from Mozart's birthplace to a hangar with a New York taxicab parked next to a Formula 1 car, then a train into Hungary.
